Trick of the Light by Rob ThurmanMy rating: 2 of 5 stars
This book was incredibly painful to read. I'm glad I'm done, but I want my time back to read a different book. Again, two stars because I managed to finish it. I would have put the book down 1/2 way through but several reviewers said the 'twist' at the end was worth slogging through the book. Not. No surprises here that I didn't see coming throughout the book.
The only intriguing aspect of the book was that you really didn't know what she was until the end of the book, but the fact that the series is called 'Trixster' kind of gives it away.... Anywhoo, because you didn't know what she was you didn't know what information she was with holding from the reader, but again, anti-climactic and not a Sarah Palin 'Gotcha' moment.
You mean to tell me that the demons and angels were that surprised that she was a Trixster? Seriously, her name is Trixa. . . .
I really didn't like the main character. Her outlook and attitude was annoying. Not sure why Thurman feels to need to make all her winged characters gay. And, again the author has undervalued my intelligence as a reader by drilling the 'Zeke only sees things in black and white', 'the bond between Zeke and Griffin being unbreakable', blah, blah, blah...
Oh well, time to move on. I will not be reading the second book in this series.
